Southern Hospitality

I found fall!
It was right here is Texas, all along. Never made it to California, so I had to travel here to find it.
Everyone knew I was from out of town, by the way my mouth hung open as I gazed into the trees.  The colors are like nothing you've seen before... well unless you live here. :)

Staying with Anthony's parents in their gorgeous home, I felt spoiled. We even had a cute coffee bar upstairs, so we could enjoy a cup in bed. His mom is so thoughtful. I snapped some pictures around their home, because I was so in love with the decor.

Deb really did a fantastic job styling and decorating everything.

This chandelier was brought all the way back from Italy, they have moved it from their home in California. Who could blame them, it's gorgeous! Their home had a ton of custom work done by the builder. The floor plan is nicely laid out and flows from room to room.

Treated to freshly baked croissants every morning.
My bathroom had a Buddha statue and was very spa like.

This amazing light fixture was actually carved from a tree in the front yard. It's suspended from the vaulted ceilings and adds just the right touch to their kitchen.

A few more details.
Deb has been hunting for all things peacock lately.
Another Buddha statue, guards the fireplace.

The picture above, is taken from the landing that runs the length of the great room. It's the prettiest hand scraped wood, and I'm bummed I didn't get a picture of the underside. The home is filled with natural light from huge windows throughout.

Maddie posing as a model in front of the kitchen cabinets.
Yes, that is real pasta enclosed in the front paneling of the drawers.
An inexpensive touch, that adds a ton of flare.

OVER IT

glasses: Celine, top: Vintage, overalls: Forever 21 (similar here),
booties: Silence and Noise, backpack: Claire's.

Sometimes you just have to tell yourself that you're confident... even when you aren't.
I wore these and was so nervous, thinking people would make fun of a grown gal in overalls!! But that morning I told myself "Just do it!"

and to my surprise...  I received so many compliments for them.

So the moral to my post is even when your nerves are telling you no, TRY or DO it anyway and you will be surprised. Even if no one responds to your daring act
(like the compliments I received for my outfit risk
YOU will know that you tried and be proud of yourself for doing so!!

To dress them up I paired them with booties and bow tie dress shirt and a bold lip. I am in love with this Bordeaux color for fall and treated myself to this new lip shade. Its called Leo, and it's fabulous.

refresh

So I got a second job, and I love it!
San Jose has a great outdoor shopping area- Santana Row. It is designed to look like a European neighborhood, with shopping on the first floor and homes above the shops. There are some amazing restaurants and the entire setting is really casual but classy. I work at Anthropologie and it's great so far- It really allows me to dress how I like, it's so close to home and my team is so fun to work with.
I think this relationship is going to last.

sweater- Banana Republic, plaid- Target (little boys section), pants- Urban Outfitters, boots- Urban Outfitters

These were taken while at work, just sipping on my coffee, enjoying the view.
I wish I had gotten a close up of my socks for the day-
they are bright blue with vinyl records all over them.

New York- my style {{ Brooklyn Hipster }}

One of the things my boyfriend hates most about me is that I like to blog my fashion. While I was in New York I was totally tuned into the urban street vibe. Matching high and low end styles and making sure comfort was my #1 priority.

When I think of the streets of New York I see dark alleys and brick and foggy streets.

Much different than my regular bright California attire, I packed nothing but black and a bit of white for my trip. And this was one of my favorite outfits. edgy but tailored

Beanie: Brandy Melville, blouse: HM, jacket: Topshop, jeans: Joes,
shoes: Nike, scarf: DSW ( I have it in cranberry also)

Fall Fashion

I think there are a lot of women who look forward to Fall style, because they love to layer. In the Summer, I layer necklaces and rings to make up for the layers of clothes I'm not wearing.

Autumn is a time for collard shirts and pull over sweaters,
knee high socks and tall boots, scarves and beanies.

I'm predicting some very good trends for Fall,
Here is what made my lust list.

60's style is back at it- bright colors and prints, plus pattern mixing is a must!
Everyone should just go ahead and turn into a ball of wool- buy chunky sweaters and make them huge.
The Norse print is going to be big just like the lumberjacks who wear them. If the print is too over powering try it on a backpack or hat.
Turtle necks are very chic for fashion and I think the bigger the better.
That black western hat is not saying goodbye just yet.. and neither is it's trendy military friend either, keep them close ;)

If you don't know what Lugs are, click here..
As far as colors, you can thank that Frozen chick.. ICE BLUE will be FIRE for Fall
Houndstooth and checks were once reserved for nerds only, now they're all over the runways and I like it.
Maybe it's cause I'm a nerd, but I think you should buy a bow blouse in either print.. just saying.

Lastly, Fall is for staying cozy. Rock your favorite sneakers and *pop that pep in your step.

wants on wednesday

Fall has been trying to take over here in California, but the heat refuses to leave the party.

In anticipation of all things cozy, I can't help but pick a few pieces that help get me into the fall spirit. Bold patterns, burgundy, boots and seat heaters... pumpkin spice.

I'm ready for the rainy nights, scarves and baking.. that's probably what I look forward to.

Thinking about taking a trip to New York in December.. I have always wanted to visit the city when it's all dressed up for the Holidays.

Maybe it was one too many viewings of 'Home Alone 2"..

either way it will be nice to get away and really embrace the real winter elements..

like I referenced earlier- California doesn't see much of that.

Fashion is what you buy, style is what you do with it.

Ive really been digging the throwback looks lately.
90's grunge mixed with a little schoolgirl is what I'm trying to go for here.

"Fashion is what you buy, style is what you do with it."

A quote I completely agree with. The popular fashion you see in the magazines, are just trends. Style is unique to each person with how they choose to flip it. When shopping, if I can't think of three different ways to where an item- chances are I won't buy it. My style is forever changing, and most of the time it is influenced by the music I'm currently listening to.

I've been listening to No Doubt and Incubus a lot lately.

out with my sistah

The other day, I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with my baby sister. Of course we had to go shopping, what else? I ended up with a new top, even though I am on the hunt for a nice black wool peacoat. Any Suggestions? I grabbed this sweater at Black and Brown the other week- it's actually a light blue/mint color. My pants are from Target, major score!! Boots are Aldo. and Maddie is in a Juicy Couture Bomber, yes my dog has classy taste. My necklace was a gift from my hunny - it's a vintage pendant with inscription from the Khoran, I believe... Babe correct me if I'm wrong.

Now the game is on for Holiday Gifts!! Next month I will be featuring my gift guides for Holiday shopping for everyone in your life. I hope you like them. Stay tuned. Happy Shopping <3

p.s. all shots were taken from my sisters new phone- she's so excited. follow her on instagram @lilmissgingerr

stripes and natives

Thanksgiving is this week, I can't believe it. I have already bought all the needed items for Thanksgiving number one with my Boyfriend's family on Wednesday night. I am in charge of the desserts, no surprise there. It is my favorite thing to bring to any party. Maddie and I played around with the camera and I tried on possible Turkey Day outfits. A new top from JCrew that I got this past weekend, I am so addicted to stripes right now. I was out shopping with my sister. {We got matching tops}  That often used to be the case when we were younger. A family vacation was always cemented with my sister and I getting new matching outfits... I still find some comfort in it, maybe for the memories. The turquoise jewelery is worn to represent something the Native Americans might have had. I also have my arrow necklace on in memory of the events at Thanksgiving and leaf earrings to remember nature. Maddie, just in the tu-tu that I made for her.

get you weeked on

::Quoteworthy::

"instead of worrying so much about leaving a better planet for our children, we should focus on leaving better children to take care of our planet"

just thought I'd share this- I heard it the other day and it really hit home. I am a huge advocate for leaving a healthy planet for our future, but if we don't teach the youth of today about conservation then the planet will suffer regardless. and, on to another pick- me- up, the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale is here!!  So this weekend your only homework is to shop.. shop... SHOP

On Sunday I will be going with my hunny to his first Niners game, even though he has been a die hard fan since he was a little boy. I got the ticket as a surprise for him and I hope they win!! Keep up with me on instagram to see what trouble we get into at the game on Sunday!! @devonfoster

Here to Stay

Trends come and go as easily as the wind blows, does anyone remember when "babydoll" tops were the it look? Now, its all about sweaters paired over denim shirts. And I'm sure by Christmas every blogger will be featuring something totally new. So I did a little research and found some looks that I think are here to stay for the up coming Winter season. Of course outfit choices will be adjusted in order to incorporate new trends, but I think these closet staples will be sticking around for a bit longer than just a couple months.
See if you agree with my choices?
ciao xx
